Abstract
This chapter is intended to introduce the reader to the variety of wood and wood fiber-based products that have been engineered to perform in ways that dimensional wood products cannot. Plywood is the primary engineered product used throughout the entertainment industry, but there are many other engineered wood and fiber products that may have unique properties that are beneficial to the entertainment fabricator. Many engineered products help reduce waste in the production stream as well. This chapter will help the reader gain a broad perspective on the makeup of engineered sheet and dimensional lumber products as well as the grading standards used by various agencies.
