Privacy policy

Draft text: not yet reviewed by a lawyer. The operator must complete the details in [brackets].

This policy explains which personal data Sawmill Network Europe processes, why and what your rights are.

1. Controller

The controller of personal data is the operator named in the legal notice.

2. Data we process

Account: name, e-mail address, password (stored only as a hash), language, notification settings, time of accepting the terms.

Company profile and offers: the data you enter (company name, address, contact details, photos, descriptions). Company contact data is public.

Messages: what you write to a company or in a conversation is visible to you and to the receiving company. If you write without an account, your name, e-mail and phone number go to the company.

Forum: your name and posts are public.

Technical data: IP address and browser data in server logs, a pseudonymised (hashed) IP address on contact forms to fight abuse.

Search: text typed into the place search is sent to our geocoding service to find the place.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Providing the platform and your account (contract); protecting it against abuse and keeping it secure (legitimate interest); sending the notifications you ask for (contract or consent); sending news about the platform (only with your consent, which you can withdraw in the settings); meeting legal duties.

4. Who receives data

Other users and visitors (public content); the company you write to; hosting and e-mail providers acting for the operator: [names to be completed by the operator]. The map is loaded from OpenFreeMap, so your browser contacts that service and it sees your IP address. Place search uses [geocoding provider to be completed].

5. Retention

Account data is kept while the account exists. Messages and logs are kept for [period to be completed]. After deleting an account its forum posts may remain without your name.

6. Your rights

You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to the data-protection authority of your country. Write to the contact address in the legal notice.

7. Cookies
