Abstract
The research found that the cross laminated timber (CLT) building has lower environmental impact on all assessed categories, except renewable energy demand, compared to the concrete reference building. The reductions in enviironmental impacts are primarily driven by the use of more efficient HVAC and lighting systems. The operation of the CLT building contributes to between 75% and 96% of environmental impact and the global warming potential of the building materials are 30% lower than the reference building.
